[snip] No, auctioning off the scarce spectrum is almost as bad for the public as giving it away. Its market value is less than its long-term public value. Any auctions should be for short-term broadcast rights. In addition, breaking up the broadcast rights into small pieces, such as days of the week or even hours of the day, would promote greater diversity. ---Steve (Steve Eppley •••@••.•••) @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ ~=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=~=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=~--~=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=~=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=~ Posted by Richard K.
